About the Smart Business Awards

The Smart Business Awards is a new program to coincide with Queensland's 150th birthday.

The Smart Business Awards will applaud the efforts of those companies and entrepreneurs that have made the largest impact/transformation to the Queensland economy since 1859.

The Queensland Government encourages everyone - businesses and community members - to nominate companies which have contributed to Queensland's transformation from our establishment as a state in 1859 until today.

These could be (but are not limited to):

  • long-established businesses
  • those which are recognised around the world or
  • changed the way we do business in Queensland.

There will be six award categories.

Key dates
The 2009 Smart Business Awards were launched on Monday 3 August.

Nominations are open from 3 August until 30 September and the judging process will be undertaken in October.

A special cocktail function will be held on Wednesday 9 December to announce the winners of each category. This date is the eve of Queensland's 150th birthday.
